Newtowne’s deeply engaged faculty works closely with families to nurture and engage young children as they make the transition from the world of home to the world of school.

This program runs during the school year.
Monday through Friday. Morning and Afternoon.

All students participate in our Core Program from 8:30-12:30, Monday-Friday.  Our two youngest classrooms have 3-day/week or 5-day/week options for the Core Program.

Any family can elect to add the Early Drop (8:00-8:30) or Extended Day programing options (12:30-3:30) 1-5 days/week.

Ages: 2 to 5.

Grades Toddler through Junior Kindergarten.

Applications for the upcoming school year are due on January 31.  Applications are reviewed in February and families are contacted by early March with a determination.  Admissions decisions are made by the Director with our school's mission in mind -- to build classroom communities that reflect the diversity that Newtowne values and a commitment to cooperative education.

Applications received after January 31st are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Financial aid is available. Funds are allocated based on families’ demonstrated need and in consideration of any unique circumstances.

We also partner with the City of Cambridge’s Birth to Third Scholarship program, which helps connect students from low-income families with our preschool programming.

Families are responsible for transportation to and from school.  Newtowne School is a 5-minute walk from the Harvard Square station; many families arrive by MBTA train or bus.  Limited parking for is available in front of the church for drop-off and pick-up.  There is ample bicycle parking available.

Serving roughly 60 students of varied backgrounds, Newtowne School's aim is to provide a warm, caring environment that seeks to guide young children as they become citizens of the world. We are committed to developing children’s self-confidence and love of learning as we help them learn to negotiate new relationships and appreciate diversity. Our Reggio-inspired community is deeply cooperative, with families, teachers, and administrators working together to create a peaceful and supportive environment for the children, both in school and as part of the larger Cambridge community.
