Gut reactions: Using chemistry to decipher the human microbiome
Emily Balskus

Though changes in the gut microbiome track with human health and disease, we don’t yet have a detailed understanding of exactly how these microbes affect our biology. Institute member and Harvard chemist Emily Balskus will describe her lab's efforts to understand chemical processes within gut microbes, including how they metabolize the drugs and nutrients that we then take in.
