    In this workshop with scholar and artist Timothy David Mayhew, you will explore charcoal drawing materials and techniques and discover how simple tools can be powerful vehicles for artistic expression. Mayhew will describe the 19th-century technical advances and tools that enabled charcoal to evolve from a fragile drawing material to a permanent drawing medium. After his hands-on drawing demonstration in the Materials Lab, participants will be able to experiment and create their own drawings.
