In this photomontage, a smiling young woman, sitting outside by a blue wall, gestures toward a blue, red, and white rectangular tile that appears to be floating. The tile is elaborately decorated with flowers and leaves.

    Additional information

On this tour, Sophia Pasalis ’25 will examine how artists mediate physical and metaphysical worlds, how and when space needs to be filled, and when our imagination is left to play a large part in the process. The stops on the tour will be an Ottoman tile panel (c. 1570), Auguste Rodin’s sculpture The Walking Man (1899–1900), and Jacob Lawrence’s painting Ventriloquist (1952).
