This is our state-of-the-art makerspace at the Main Library. It is a hub for learning, creativity, and collaboration filled with beginner to professional-level workshops and equipment

The Hive schedule is:

  • Monday = 1 PM - 5 PM 
  • Tues & Weds = 1 PM - 9 PM
  • Thursday = 9 AM - 9 PM 
  • Fri & Sat = 9 AM - 5 PM
  • Teen Takeover 3:30-5:30PM Wednesdays
  • Teen Room Activities 1-2PM on Fridays

Ages: 12 to Adults.

This page outlines who is eligible to use The Hive. In short, we welcome patrons 12 and older to train independently to use the space. Patrons under the age of 12 are welcome to use The Hive alongside an adult who is also training/trained to use the space or as part of a structured school/community group visit.

You must completed specific training courses first, then signup for open time slots to attend workshops or reserve the equipment. Find everything you need to get started as a maker here. Makers can reserve equipment in our fab lab and spaces (XR lab, multimedia studio, podcasting studio) through our booking system. Reservations can be made online, over the phone, or in person. Or check out workshops and other program offerings on our calendar.

The Hive's mission is to provide free, hands-on STEAM learning opportunities, resources for personal projects, and to serve as a space for skill sharing and creative collaboration. The Hive is home to a fabrication lab, a multimedia recording studio, a podcasting studio and an extended reality lab (XR lab).Take a look at what we offer on our equipment page.

We offer workshops to become familiar with our equipment and spaces, special programs for school and community groups, project-based activities, along with time and materials for individuals to work on their own projects with the support of our trained team. 

Weekly drop in Teen Takeover in The Hive with hands-on making activities including t-shirt design, sticker-making, music production and more: Wednesdays 3:30-5:30

Regular Friday pop-up making activities in Teen Room: 1-2 Fridays each month
