Pandemic Unemployment Assistance: Massachusetts DUA

We have a new system for unemployment assistance during the pandemic for people unable to work due to a COVID-19-related reason but are not eligible for regular or extended unemployment benefits.

This is an ongoing program.
Applications online can be submitted at any time.
Our Call Center for PUA is available from:
- Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
- Saturday, 8:00am - 12:00pm
Multilingual call agents are available.
Ages Young Adult to Senior Adult.
There is no specific age requirement provided you are a head of household tax payer. If you file as a dependent, your head of household will be filing the claim for all dependents.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits to individuals who are unable to work because of a COVID-19-related reason but are not eligible for regular or extended unemployment benefits.
PUA will provide up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits for self-employed workers, gig economy employees, self-contracted professionals and those with limited work histories. Evidence must be submitted showing that you cannot find work as a result of COVID-19. PUA will provide eligible residents with financial benefits.
You should apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance retroactive to your first week of total or partial unemployment. Most regular UI claims are processed within 21-28 days after filing, and many are processed within the first week of filing:
