Partners for Youth with Disabilities Mentoring
We provide one-to-one mentoring to youth and adults with disabilities to reach their full potential.
This is an ongoing program.
Contact us for details, timing and dates depends on availability of mentors. Mentors meet with mentees 4-6 times per month.
Ages: 6 to Young Adult.
You must be someone between the ages of 6 and 24 with a disability.
- Sign-up is ongoing
Those interested can sign up on our website at https://www.pyd.org/get-involved/ Registration is rolling year round.
Complete the online registration for and a staff member will reach out to schedule a 30-minute to 1-hour interview with the youth (parent involvement is encouraged). Parents then need to sign a consent form and the youth will be added to the mentoring waitlist.
The program serves people at their homes or wherever it is needed or online.
- Both in-person and virtual (online or over the phone).
Meeting locations are typically determined by the mentor and take place in the community.
We match each youth with a caring adult mentor, and they are expected to meet together for 4-6 hours a month over the course of a year. Open to youth with disabilities (ages 6+) in the Greater Boston Area. Mentors and Mentees determine the schedule to meet based on their preferences.
Most mentees participate in 3 kinds of activities:
- work on personal goals
- spend time in the community such as museums, movies, etc.
- go to the park
- develop friendships
- attend social events
