Safe Haven Program

By On The Rise

Image of Safe Haven Program program

Our inclusive and non-judgmental atmosphere, fostered by OTR's Community Advocates, helps women build relationships, safety, and resources to move out of homelessness.

This is an ongoing program.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Safe Haven will be staffed but not open to visitors 8:00am - 1:00pm, Monday - Friday, closed Saturdays and holidays.  When in doubt, call ahead:  617-497-7968

  • The community spaces of the Safe Haven will be closed to visitors due to limited staffing

  • Staff will meet visitors at the front door to take information and requests. Requests will be referred to staff who are working remotely, to respond by phone

  • On a very limited basis, individual visitors (not groups) may enter for a brief errand – for example, to use the bathroom, or get access to a locker. Visitors may be asked to share their health status with staff, and may be asked to allow staff to take their temperature.

  • Staff will distribute meals and limited supplies at the front door. Meals will consist of carry-out, packaged foods and bag/box lunches

  • Hours for breakfast:  8:30am - 10:00am

  • Hours for lunch:  11:00am - 12:30pm

  • Please confirm your appointments:  due to public health concerns around the coronavirus pandemic, many public institutions and resources have canceled or postponed their schedules.

Additional information

The rules of the Safe Haven are based on safety and respect, there is no sobriety policy, and program participation is always voluntary. Our goal is to be real for women, to meet them where they are and to build relationships and connections with them. On The Rise is a community that women can belong to and grow from.
