Scouts BSA Troop/Crew 56

Open to youth of all genders and identities from 6th grade (age 11) to age 20. Helps youth gain leadership, teamwork & outdoor skills. Weekly meetings, weekend/summer outdoor adventure all year!
This program runs during the school year.
We'll start by hosting a meet and greet session for all interested participants on September 12, 2023 from 7:00-8:00 PM. Activity days and times will vary based on the group. We will likely have regular meetings on Tuesdays.
Ages: 11 to Young Adult.
Grades 6th grade through 12th grade.

Cost
There are activity fees each semester (fall/spring) that cover all trips, required for all youth members. At least half of these fees are raised by the scout through sales (of Christmas trees, wreaths, garbage bags, etc.). Dues are projected to be $550 for the school year, September through June. Half of the dues (projected to be $275) must be earned by scouts, through fundraising or earning it through other means, such as shoveling snow or taking care of a pet for a neighbor.

We are a truly inclusive troop, committed to diversity, welcoming all regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, neighborhood, disability, etc. Female youth have officially been part of Scouts BSA troops since February of 2019, but have been incorporated in our troop for much longer, with excellent results. The Scouts BSA program helps youth to gain leadership, teamwork and outdoor skills, and build character. Youth age 11-21 complete rank advancement requirements to build skills, perform communityservice, and earn merit badges to broaden and deepen their interests.
Activities are youth led, with adults providing guidance. All parents are welcome to join the adult Troop Committee and attend activities, and all troop adults are trained in safe scouting and youth protection measures that are recently updated, expert-led, and thorough.
Our troop is vibrant and active in the outdoors, and we have weekend trips planned for each month of the school year (most often Fri-Sun), as well as summer trips. Activity fees are paid per semester (fall/spring) and cover all trips (whether the Scout attends each one or not). Scouts are required to earn at least one semester's activity fees through fundraising (sales of holiday wreaths/trees and garbage bags) or odd jobs. Community service is also required to St. James church (such as working at their food pantry once per semester).
