Cambridge Police Exam - Prep Session

For those interested in applying for the next police exam, the Cambridge Police Department will host a free online Exam Prep Session on Saturday, April 10 at 9 a.m.

Ages: Adults.

Cambridge residents only.

To become a police officer, you need to first take a written test. You also need to meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 19 years of age on the date of the exam. You can take the written exam when you turn 19, but you won't be considered for a position until you turn 21.
  • You need to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. You can also satisfy this requirement with three years of military service and an honorable discharge.
  • To claim residency preference, you must be a Cambridge resident (lived in the city) at least one year before the date of your exam.
  • You must meet minimum fitness requirements.

Interested in becoming a Cambridge Police Officer and want to learn more about the process? In advance of the next police exam, which is scheduled to take place on June 12, 2021, the Cambridge Police will be holding a free virtual session for residents.

The Cambridge Police Department will host a free online Exam Prep Session on Saturday, April 10 at 9 a.m. During this course, interested residents will learn how to prepare for the entrance examination. They will also receive free materials from the seminar to aid in studying. To pre-register and secure a virtual seat for the April 10th exam prep session, residents can visit http://camb.ma/policeexamprep.

Residents can also e-mail personnel@cambridgepolice.org to sign up for either session.

As a reminder, the application deadline is April 20, 2021. Applications will not be accepted after May 4, 2021. The state holds a civil service exam every two years to become a police officer; the next exam will not be held until 2023.
