Additional information

Cambridge-based keyboardist and composer Dave Bryant, a long-time sideman of free jazz legend Ornette Coleman, embarks on his second year of presenting his monthly “Third Thursdays” concerts, a harmolodic jazz series, with concert lineups already in place for April and May, which include visiting artists who were also former Ornette Coleman colleagues.

For April 20th, Bryant will be joined by members of the NYC-based Just Ornette Quartet, led by electric piccolo bassist Al MacDowell, a former Coleman collaborator, along with quartet members acoustic bassist Tony Falanga, also a former collaborator, and drummer Tony Lewis. MacDowell’s veteran quartet is guided by Coleman’s groundbreaking free jazz principles and explores his deep and diverse catalog of compositions.

“Third Thursdays” performances and interviews have been documented at dbryantmusic.com/third-thursdays. Performance videos and interviews with former Coleman colleagues are also available at youtube.com/@davebryantmusic/videos.
