In this photomontage, a young woman holds her hands up to frame a floating woodcut print beside her. The print depicts a person wearing black with a sorrowful expression on their face and their hands close to their chest, as if in a self-embrace. The young woman, in a sweater and corduroys, sits on a couch by a window.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, three Student Guides will discuss the portrayal of womanhood in three prints from the collections.
