Counselor-in-Training Program (CIT)

Counselors-in-Training are part of the Youth Employment Program (YEP) where youth have fun at summer camp and earn $75 for completing responsibilities during their session.
Sign-up Information
- Ages: 11 to 14.
- Grades 7th grade through 9th grade.
- Wheelchair accessible.
Eligibility is based on grade level. Youth are eligible if they are rising 7th - 9th graders.

Enrollment typically begins in March and continues until spots are filled. Parents are notified immediately upon enrollment if spots are available for their desired session. Please use these steps to complete summer enrollment:
- Complete the CIT Application Form when it becomes available.
- Complete the Caregiver permission form within 2 weeks of registering online. NOTE: Your spot will not be secure until steps 1 and 2 are completed.
- Receive your session and shift assignment via email.
- Attend one of the orientations.
Cost
$100 paid by families, which students receive back as a stipend upon successfully completing their two-week session. Some scholarships are available for families with the most need.

Dates and Times
This program runs during the summer.
CITs can only do one session per summer. We offer 4 two-week sessions. Each runs daily from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
CITs must be available Monday-Friday for their entire session. No customized sessions are allowed. CITs can only do one session per summer.
- Session 1: June 29-July 10 (closed on July 3)
- Session 2: July 13-24
- Session 3: July 27-August 7
- Session 4: August 10-21
Additional information
CITs assist Outback teachers as they lead kids (K-6th grade) in a variety of activities. CITs learn important job skills, model leadership to younger children, attend beach and field trips, help manage the program space, interact with and support campers, work collaboratively with other CITs, and plan and work towards personal goals. Commons activities are assisting the program with daily cleaning and set up/break down, supporting staff and campers during daily transitions, assisting teachers with activities by providing help to individual youth and getting supplies.
