Money Management Volunteers: Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services
Volunteer to help an older adult in Cambridge or Somerville budget and manage their finances.

Must be over the age of 18. We have an application process and CORI background check. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.

The program serves people at their homes or wherever it is needed or online.
- Both in-person and virtual (online or over the phone).
SCES serves adults age 60+ residing in Cambridge and Somerville.
Role: One-on-one match with a client who needs assistance with their bills or other financial obligations. Balance checkbooks, reconcile bank statements, and assist with finance-related tasks.
Scheduling: Ongoing match, evenings and weekends okay. Usually a 2-4 hour per month commitment.
Training: 1-hour zoom training session on a weekday evening, and we provide a handbook and materials. Additionally, our volunteers meet 3 times per year to discuss educational topics and any client issues.
Skills: sensitivity to elders, reliability, willingness to do minimal paperwork, and respect for confidentiality.
Commitment: We look for volunteers who can stay with the program for at least a year.
