Any resident of Cambridge or Somerville who pays a heating bill may apply to the program.

Cost
This Program is free!
This program will help provide qualified applicants with a benefit amount to reduce their heating bills.
Location
The program serves people at their homes or wherever it is needed or online.
- Both in-person and virtual (online or over the phone).
We will work with you remotely to find the easiest way to submit an application. Please contact us by phone and leave a message.
Dates and Times
This program runs during the school year.
You can apply up to April 30th. The Application typically opens the first weekday in October. Our offices are open on weekdays.
Additional information
Serving both the cities of Cambridge and Somerville, the Home Energy Assistance Program assists low-income households with winter heating costs incurred between November 1st and April 30th.
If your household has had a change in income or household size since you completed your application, you may request another review your application’s previous decision of eligibility (amount of assistance) or ineligibility.
