Community Schools Summer Camps (DHSP)

We will offer summer camps at various school locations across Cambridge for students that are currently in grades JK-4th (entering K-5th in September 2023).

Wednesday, July 5 – Friday, August 18
Monday through Friday.

Every weekday 8:30am - 5:30pm. All programs are divided into the following four sessions:

Mini-session: July 5 - 7
Session 1: Week 1 and 2 (July 10-21)
Session 2: Weeks 3 and 4 (July 24 – August 4)
Session 3: Weeks 5 and 6 (August 7 – August 18)

Ages: 4 to 11.

Grades Junior Kindergarten through 4th grade.

Cambridge residents only.

Eligibility is based on Grade Level. Participating children must be Cambridge residents currently enrolled in Junior Kindergarten - 4th grade.

Sign up begins on Monday, February 13th. Applications will be posted on the City Website and be available on this page shortly afterwards.

  • Programs will be filled by lottery system. Priority will be given to applicants from low-income households.
  • Applications will be submitted online through the City’s Viewpoint platform.
  • Families who need help with their application can contact askdhsp@cambridgema.gov or 617-349-6200.

Cost

For families that pay, weekly sessions tuition rates are between $18 - $600 depending on income, household size, and the type of session. See the Summer Tuition Chart for sliding scale attached.

Additional information

The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) offers safe and engaging summer programming to Cambridge children, youth, and teens. Community Schools Summer Camps are open to rising Kindergarten – 5th graders.

DHSP Community Schools Summer Camps offer a range of educational and recreational activities in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Camp activities are designed to develop children’s social and emotional growth and build healthy relationships. Each Community Schools Camp focuses on a theme and campers participate in a wide range of activities each day.
