Escort Older Adults to and from Medical Appointments

Assist older adults with transportation to and from clinics so that they can keep much-needed medical appointments for screenings and treatments. This role is in high demand!
This is an ongoing program.
We look for volunteers who have time on weekdays during business hours.
Ages: Adults.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, pass a CORI background check, and provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

Location
The program location changes over time.
- In-person only.
Volunteers may sometimes drive, or they may be asked to ride along with the older adult in the mode of transportation that is available to them.
Additional information
It is not necessary to own a car or drive! We often need a volunteer to accompany someone in transportation services such as Green Cab, The Ride, Mart, and Door2Door. Escort volunteers are incredibly helpful for folks who are frail or who have mobility challenges, and clinics often require patients to have an escort home after receiving anesthesia. Escort volunteers do not attend the appointment in the exam room.
Volunteers receive emails about upcoming Escort requests and reply when available. This role requires time on weekdays during business hours, so it works well for retirees!
