We restore and protect the green spaces in urban areas like the one around Magazine Beach along the Charles River. in spring and summer we invite people to enjoy the site and host community events.

There is no deadline or registration process for the nature center. We do have public programs for youth, families, and adults that require registration. Check our website for more details about which offerings require advanced registration.

This Program is free!
All programs are free! Drop-in center is free. Public programs range from free to $18. Contact Paul for accessible pricing options.
Location
- In-person only.
Parking is available but please avoid driving if possible.
Dates and Times
This is an ongoing program.
- Our first day of Spring Programming is April 21st.
- Spring Hours, Free drop-in hours for all ages start in late April through June on weekends from 12PM to 7PM.
- Summer Hours are Mondays & Thursdays through Sundays, 12:00-7:00 pm (June 26-September 3)
- We continue to run in the Autumn until November.

Additional information
Located along the Charles River in Cambridge, Magazine Beach Park has long been a haven for city residents seeking the outdoors close to home. Common activities you might see in our programs: kayaking, bird watching, art-making, nature exploration and lots more outdoor fun!
Thanks to a partnership between Mass Audubon and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), Mass Audubon will bring our Nature in the City initiative to this urban greenspace.
From April to November, Mass Audubon will host drop-in nature programs at the historic Powder Magazine building, which will also serve as a home base for school, family, and adult programming on and around the river.
