Our unit responds to calls on weekdays (a detective responds over the weekend). There are also lots of community-based resources available to survivors:

The Sexual Assault Unit investigates sexual crimes such as rape, indecent assault, indecent exposure, and peeping & spying. The goal of the Sexual Assault Unit is to provide the best police and social services available to people who have survived a sexual crime and their family. The Sexual Assault Unit will accomplish this task by conducting thorough and detailed follow-up investigations of all sexual assaults reported to the Cambridge Police Department. Understanding the difficulty and trauma placed upon the survivors of sexual assault, our approach emphasizes sensitivity to your needs.

We interact with youth and their families through schools, teen centers, and afterschool activities to intervene early with substance abuse counseling, mental health, and other diversion supports.

We investigate domestic related assaults and abuse incidents and provide an advocate to help survivors obtain community services and develop safety plans.
Supports for Older Adults

We provide several support services for senior citizens in Cambridge each year including regular outreach meetings, education on common scams or general safety, and our Secret Santa for Seniors event.
Youth Advisory Board (formerly Youth Explorers Program)

East CambridgeThis program is available to Cambridge 7th and 8th graders and meets monthly at the Police Department during the school year to learn about each unit and service we offer.
Cambridge Police Youth Boxing and Fitness Program
Cambridge Police Department and Cambridge YMCA
Cambridgeport, Mid Cambridge, Riverside, and The PortWe are a free gender-inclusive, noncontact, fitness-based boxing program held on twice per week in the evenings for Cambridge youth in grades 6-12.
