Just A Start partners with the Boston Tax Help Coalition and the IRS to offer Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) services free of charge.
Sign-up Information
- Ages: 18 and Adult.
- Have low to moderate income, or
- Have a disability, or
- Have limited English proficiency
Residency
You must live or work in one of these communities:
Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Watertown, Belmont, Brookline, or Boston.

Dates and Times
This program runs during the school year.
We offer free tax preparation services by trained volunteers from the first week in February to the week before taxes are due (second week of April). Please see our flyer for more specific information about times, locations, and directions for participating.

Just A Start offers free, appointment-only IRS-certified tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Our trained volunteers help eligible families and individuals:
- File accurate tax returns
- Claim all available tax credits
- Avoid high-cost or untrustworthy tax services
