Youth Recreational Rowing

We offer a rowing program on the Charles River for youth ages 12-18.

This is an ongoing program.

All of our summer sessions except the weekend sessions run 5-days per week. Classes are available on varying days from 9-11AM, 11-1PM, 11:30-1:30PM, 12:30-2:30PM, 1:30-3:30PM.

We have 10 weekly sessions for the following date ranges: June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug 2, Aug 5-9, Aug 12-16, Aug 19-23, and Aug 26-30. We also have weekend sessions on:

  • Saturday Session: July 6-Aug 3
  • Sunday Session: July 7-Aug 4

Ages: 12 to 16.

Typically participants are ready to enter the program by 7th or 8th grade. The majority of our summer programs serve ages 12-16.

Youth Recreational Rowing Information and Registration.

Registrations are currently open and will continue to be on a rolling basis until each class fills up or the class begins. Families will be notified of enrollment or placement on the waitlist as soon as they finish their registration. Spots are first come first serve.

Directions: Go to Community Rowing website> go to Youth programs page (under 'Programs')> click on either Youth Learn to Row Fall/Spring or Crew League Fall/Spring> on the right hand side of the page, click on the sessions you would like to enroll your child in> Once you click on the sessions, it will redirect you to RegattaCentral> complete the registration/payment and once you click confirm you should be set to go.

Cost

Cost ranges from $216-$270 (we do offer financial aid to anyone who can't cover the costs).

  • Sliding scale based on income

Choose the option to "Apply for Financial Aid" at checkout during your registration.

Some CPS and BPS kids can enroll these classes for free.

Yes. Transportation from Ruggles Station should be provided at the start of the Summer season.

Additional information

Youth Learn to Scull, Youth Skills Sculling, Youth Learn to Row Sweeps, Youth Skills Sweeps. They will learn rowing terminology, learn how to handle the equipment, and develop a basic set of rowing skills. And have fun!

We also offer a STEM to Stern program (in partnership with USRowing) that offers free STEM sessions (lead by our collegiate volunteers) and rowing for those enrolled in the CPS or BPS districts.
